Phragmites Control


HIRE A CONTRACTOR!

Lawncare companies and individuals are beginning to control Phragmites.

Benefits to hiring a contractor:

·        Saves time.

·        Produces better results for large infestations.


Contractors should have a Commercial Aquatic Herbicide Applicators license to:

·        Apply Aquatic Approved Herbicides.

·        Obtain a permit from the Department of Natural Resources to apply herbicide over water.

Training: Learn how to treat Phragmites together! Get training from the DCIST by calling 920-746-5955 to set up a training session

Equipment: Get the equipment you need to treat Phragmites from our Equipment Loan Program.

Herbicide: Use Aquatic Approved Herbicides.

Aquatic Approved Herbicide is recommended when treating Phragmites near or around water. A permit from the Department of Natural Resources and use of aquatic approved herbicide is required when using herbicide over water. Certification in Aquatic Herbicide use is required to obtain this permit.

Please Record Volunteer Hours!

Did you know that your time provides matching hours required for DCIST to remain successful at receiving grant funding? There are just a few simple requirements for your time to be eligible.

Your time is eligible if:

  • Control work was performed on invasive species (e.g. Invasive Plants or Invasive Animals) including herbicide application, pulling, cutting, clean up, etc.
  • Work was performed on private and/or public lands in Door County (including your own property).

 

If your time is eligible, recording these hours will help DCIST maintain grant funding!

Please, submit your hours by following these steps:

1.      Download* and print the Volunteer Log Form

2.    Fill out the form (no limit on number of forms submitted, more the better!)

3.     Send or drop off the form at:
